Pakistan and Azerbaijan to Strengthen Cooperation in IT & Telecom Sector

Islamabad, July 18, 2023 – A delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Mr. Rashad Nabiyev, the Minister of Digital Development and Transport, held a productive meeting with Syed Amin Ul Haque, the Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication of Pakistan. The discussions focused on fostering collaboration in the fields of digital transformation, software development, and IT exports. The meeting aimed to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries in the IT and telecom sector.

The Federal Minister for IT warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its relations with Azerbaijan, particularly in the technology sector. He emphasized that Pakistan highly values its partnership with Azerbaijan and is eager to explore opportunities for cooperation.

The Ministry of IT and Telecom in Pakistan is dedicated to realizing the vision of Prime Minister’s Digital Pakistan, with a focus on digital transformation in the country. The Federal Minister highlighted the ministry’s collaborative efforts with the IT industry to achieve this goal.

Mr. Rashad Nabiyev, the Azerbaijan Minister of Digital Development and Transport, stressed the importance of establishing a joint working group between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to strengthen ties in the IT and telecom sector. He expressed Azerbaijan’s keen interest in collaborating with Pakistan, particularly in the field of software development.

During the meeting, Syed Junaid Imam, Member IT, provided the delegation with an overview of the digital landscape in Pakistan, highlighting the country’s progress in the digital realm.

In addition to the ministers and officials, the meeting was attended by representatives including Member Telecom Muhammad Omar Malik, Member International Coordination Ajmal Anwar Awan, Member Legal Babur Sohail, CEO of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) Ali Raza, CEO of Ignite Asim Shahryar Husain, and DG to Minister Aftab Rashid, among others.

Following the meeting, the Azerbaijani delegation engaged in discussions with CEOs from various IT companies, further exploring opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

This bilateral engagement signifies the commitment of both Pakistan and Azerbaijan to strengthen their cooperation in the IT and telecom sector. By fostering closer ties, the two countries aim to leverage technology for mutual growth and development.
