Elon Musk Initiates Twitter’s Transformation: Renaming to ‘X’ and Replacing Iconic Bird Logo

Date: July 24, 2023

In a series of late-night tweets on Saturday, Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, revealed his plans to transform the social media platform. As part of this overhaul, the iconic bird logo and the Twitter name will soon be phased out, and the company will be renamed simply to “X.”

According to reports, Musk also communicated these changes to the Twitter staff through an email. In the email, he informed the team about the forthcoming renaming to “X” and mentioned that this would be his final message sent from a Twitter email address.

While Twitter has not yet issued an official statement in response to these developments, Musk’s affinity for the “X” branding has been well-documented over the years. His previous banking startup, founded in 1999, was named x.com, and he recently announced an AI venture under the name xAI. Furthermore, Twitter’s holding company was already rebranded as X Corp in April.

As Musk’s vision for the platform unfolds, the change of name and logo signals a significant shift in Twitter’s identity and direction, sparking curiosity among users and industry observers about what further transformations lie ahead.
