WhatsApp Introduces ‘Shortcut’ Feature to Add Participants to Groups

Date: July 30, 2023

In a recent update, Meta-owned WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that allows users to add participants directly to groups from the chat screen. The update, labeled version, is currently being released through the Google Play Beta Program, initially available to some beta testers. In the coming days, the feature will be extended to more users.

Named “add participants,” this feature provides users with a convenient shortcut to quickly add new members to a group directly from the group chat screen. A new banner will appear, encouraging users to utilize the shortcut, thereby saving them time as they won’t have to access the group info separately.

Upon tapping the banner, users can easily select and add new participants to the group, provided that the group settings permit it. Although not essential, this feature proves highly useful as it simplifies the process of adding new members, eliminating the need to navigate through the group info for a minor task.

The primary advantage of this feature is its function as a reminder for users to add new group members. By prompting users through the banner, it ensures that group administrators actively manage and grow their groups, enhancing group engagement and dynamics.

The new WhatsApp beta for Android, available for installation from the Google Play Store, enables users to take advantage of this time-saving and user-friendly feature. As WhatsApp continues to refine its offerings, such updates demonstrate the platform’s commitment to enhancing user experience and streamlining group interactions.
