Government of Pakistan Inaugurates Digital IT Lab in Nazimabad, Karachi to Provide Free IT Education Training

Karachi, July 31, 2023: The Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Syed Amin Ul Haque, in collaboration with Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Convenor MQM Pakistan, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Digital IT lab at Rashid Minhas Govt school for Boys and Girls in Nazimabad No. 1, Karachi. The lab, funded by Ignite, aims to offer free IT education training to underprivileged students in the form of content writing, freelancing, and 15 other courses.

During the event, Convenor MQM Pakistan, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, emphasized the significance of providing digital courses to the youth of Karachi, a city known for its financial importance. He highlighted the need to embrace skills and abilities rather than solely relying on degrees, especially in this fast-paced era.

Federal Minister Syed Amin Ul Haque expressed his commitment to empowering underprivileged children and preparing them to contribute productively to the nation’s development. The Digital IT lab, the first of its kind at a government school in Pakistan, aims to provide modern market-driven courses to 300-plus students, equipping them with essential IT skills to secure better opportunities for themselves and their families.

Syed Amin Ul Haque shared his vision of strengthening the national economy through IT and ITeS exports, ensuring transparency, and expanding connectivity across rural and urban areas of Pakistan. The IT Minister stressed the importance of IT skills in creating job opportunities and contributing to the country’s GDP.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent political personalities, teachers, and students who celebrated the launch of the Digital IT lab, representing a step forward in bridging the digital divide and empowering the future generation of Pakistan.
