“Etihad Airways Introduces Exclusive NFT Loyalty Program: Stake Your Assets for Miles!”

Date: August 01, 2023

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is set to unveil an expansion to its Polygon-based EY-ZERO1 non-fungible token (NFT) collection. The limited-edition release, consisting of 300 editions, will offer a range of exclusive benefits to NFT holders, including Etihad Guest Silver Tier Status, priority check-in, lounge access, and the unique opportunity to stake their assets for earning miles.

Scheduled for launch on August 1, this new addition marks the eleventh 3D aircraft model to be featured in Etihad’s EY-ZERO1 NFT collection, which was initially introduced in July 2022. The new NFTs are designed to replicate the Boeing 787 Dreamliner associated with the “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” movie.

The original EY-ZERO1 collection already provided NFT holders with exclusive perks, such as Etihad Silver Tier status for a year and access to a special NFT holders’ event at the Yas Marina Circuit Formula 1 race. The latest collection aims to offer an expanded array of both digital and real-world rewards. These include a 12-month Etihad Guest Silver Tier Status, priority check-in, a 25% boost in earning Etihad Guest Miles, lounge access at Abu Dhabi International airport, membership to the Etihad: Virtual Club, fast-track access to Gold Tier status from Silver, and a personalized Etihad membership card.

As the concept of Web3 loyalty programs continues to gain popularity, Etihad joins the growing list of airlines expanding their blockchain-based offerings. In March, low-cost Argentinian carrier Flybondi partnered with NFT ticketing company TravelX to offer all tickets as NFTs on the Algorand blockchain. Likewise, TravelX collaborated with Spanish airline Air Europa in April 2022 to launch NFT tickets linked to exclusive perks and events. In June, Japan’s largest airline group, All Nippon Airways (ANA), unveiled its NFT marketplace as part of its Web3 strategy, which aims to integrate passengers’ flight histories into their digital avatars for an immersive metaverse travel experience.
