Date: August 16, 2023

Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has held the Bin Laden Group responsible for the Haram crane incident and imposed a fine of 20 million Riyals on the company.

According to Saudi media, the Supreme Court confirmed the verdict issued by the Makkah Criminal Court of Appeals in February of the previous year and imposed a fine of 20 million Riyals for violating safety regulations due to proven negligence.

The Supreme Court sentenced 8 directors of the company, heads of departments, executives, and engineers to three-year imprisonment and fines, while three engineers and supervisors were acquitted of the charges.

The final ruling of the Supreme Court stated that the Bin Laden Group had not complied with the safety measures for the construction sites.

After 8 years since the Haram crane incident, the Supreme Court has given this verdict, closing the case and making it clear that no further appeal can be made against it.
