PM Kakar Reintroduces Zainab Alert App for Missing Children on Universal Children’s Day

Date: November 21, 2023

In recognition of Universal Children’s Day, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar reintroduced the Zainab Alert, Response, and Recovery App (ZARRA) during a special event. While originally launched in 2020, the re-introduction aims to reinforce the tool for prompt reporting of missing children, despite the app not being entirely new – a common practice by the government.

Themed “For every child, every right,” the event emphasized the country’s commitment to safeguarding children’s rights and well-being.

The Zainab Alert app serves as a platform for reporting missing or abducted children, allowing users to upload a photo, provide details of the disappearance, and disseminate the alert. This tool is seamlessly connected with all national police stations, enabling users to track investigations and receive real-time updates on missing child cases.

During the commemoration, Prime Minister Kakar reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring holistic development, education, healthcare, participation, dignity, and security for every child. These principles align closely with the “UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.”

Stressing the invaluable role of children as a nation’s future, Kakar reiterated the government’s steadfast commitment to their safety and well-being. He commended the collaborative efforts of the National Commission on the Rights for Children (NCRC) and the Ministry of Human Rights in launching the Zainab Alert App, emphasizing the collective engagement of stakeholders in this initiative.
